10 Great Reasons to See “The Wolf of Wall Street”

It seems I’m a little late in the game for this movie since I wasn’t aware of its existence until I saw the trailer. The buzz for this movie has been going for over a year now. The extremely anticipated film The Wolf of Wall Street has surfaced with it’s first trailer and it is a fierce one. This work of art was directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo Dicaprio (surprise, surprise). The movie is based on the memoir of Jordan Belfort, who was convicted of swindling millions off of investors with his pump and dump brokerage, in the end losing everything. The film is labeled as a black comedy, much like the trailer depicts. Could it be that, for once, Leonardo won’t die at the end? And Scorsese won’t end a film with a giant, gory, tragic death scene to every major character? There is still “creative license” so you’ll have to see to find out!

If the trailer hasn’t done the job already, the following reasons should convince you to grab your ticket on November 15th!

1.  Not another Boiler Room, this film shows power, corruption, greed, and excess in it’s rawest form. Showing scenes of money and women to self-destructive drug use and insanity. The good, the bad, and the incredibly ugly.

2. Dynamic duo Leonardo Di Caprio and Scorsese are at it again. We all know and love their previous work: Gangs of New York, The Departed, The Aviator, and Shutter Island. ‘Nuff said.

3. The film will be including scenes straight from the book of crazy shenanigans Belfort got into which really adds to the perspective that all of this REALLY happened.

4. Jonah Hill eats a goldfish.

5. Remember a little classic called Goodfellas? You can expect this film to be the spiritual brother taking a modern spin and less mob influenced approach to Scorsese’s old classic starring his older protege, Robert De Niro.

6. Scorsese has chosen to use some pretty cool enhanced techniques with the filming, crisp, bright colours and crystal clear quality all around.

7. It’s the first time we get to see Jonah and Leo act together, I really think that their styles will mesh well as Jonah brightens up the screen and Leo has such a strong cinematic presence.

8. As the trailer shows, Leo speaks into the camera at one point, letting one assume that the film could offer more of an active viewing with audience engagement.

9. There’s a monkey wearing roller skates.

10. FINALLY we get to see a playful side of Leo! I don’t think that since Titanic, he has ever played a role where he’s been able to goof off, charm and woo me- I mean, his audience. I get that he took a serious approach when he grew up to become a prestigious actor but it doesn’t hurt to let loose every now and then. We got a glimpse of playful Leo in The Great Gatsby and I am so happy that he really lets it show in The Wolf of Wall Street.

There you have it. If I STILL haven’t convinced you, you cannot be saved. For everyone else, prepare for one of the most epic cinematic adventures you’ve seen in years and for what’s sure to be an instant classic. I’m so excited!
